May 2019
What’s up, dear peeps? We’re bringing you some news, straight from Jagex. Apparently, they decided to close RuneLabs. While not that many people participated, it was still a great way to feel the pulse of their players. Of course, with a small percentage taking part, that pulse was quite… specialized.
To dive deeper, RuneLabs will be closed on the 28th of May, when Ideas for 2017 ends. Okay, technically, it will still be up; however, no new criteria will be added, you won’t be able to support ideas, and the RuneScape website won’t have any links to RuneLabs.
Explaining their decision, Jagex stated that they’re closing the project down due to the slim player base participation in the project. It’s understandable that they would wish to close something that only represents a small portion of RuneScape players. Jagex also admits that the systems limitations might have had something to do with poor participation.
In the future, Jagex will reopen RuneLabs for issues that really need it. For big Player Power pushes such as annual surveys, for example. It’s hoped that this will give the very best suggestions the ability to take hold and garner support from the community. Jagex will be looking at alternative solutions for the Player Power process.
The second thing we would like to discuss is Treasure Hunter. For those who don’t know, Treasure Hunter is playable from RuneScape. It allows players to use Keys to get in-game prizes. Those could be anything from useful resources to rare weapons and even exclusive gear, according to Jagex. If you want to play Treasure Hunter, you should just click the treasure chest icon that pops up after you log in and follow the guide. You get at least one key per day, members get two. You can also earn them while playing the game or stock up by cashing in bonds. You can also buy them on the RuneScape website.
After informing about you how to place in case you didn’t know before, it’s now time to tell you what is going to be different while this promotion is running.
This promotion will run from the 19th to the 23rd of May. After opening your first bonus chest, you will get 3 yellow prismatic lamps for free. After that, opening chests will store bonus chest charges. Every five charges, you will be able to see what’s inside the bonus chest. If you want the items it contains, you can open and drain the charges. If you don’t, keep opening chests and storing more charges until you find a bonus chest you want to open. Once you do, your rewards will be doubled or even tripled! Note that “unique” prizes won’t be multiplied; instead, you will get the extra items price in gold as the second or third prize.
So, RuneLabs are getting shut down, but let’s not be sad, cookies incoming, boys. And by cookies we mean treasure. Treasure is always good, unless it takes your arm and a leg. Now, all we need is a wise-cracking parrot and we will be set to open some chests.
