Skilling Guide – Divination

Divination Skilling

RuneScape has 27 different trainable skills. If you aspire to train them all to the max, it will be a serious undertaking. While this task may seem quite daunting, we are prepared to help you. Looking at statistics for number of players who reached level 120 in a skill, you can see that Divination is one of the rarer skills to train, so we decided to guide you in it first, as it is more likely that you don’t have it maxed out already.

From the lore standpoint, the origins of Divination stem from the year 169 of the Fifth Age, when Guthix was assassinated. The first year of the Sixth Age saw the mysterious wisps and crates appearing around Gielinor.

May Stormbrewer uncovered that these wisps were a mix of memories and divine energy. Apparently, they are supposed to be the only thing that’s left of Guthix’s life force, holding some of his power, scattered all over the world after his death.

If that wasn’t enough, Guthix’s death opened up craters all over the world. They are the symptoms of damage done to Gielinor. As a result of this damage, world’s life force get’s out and makes the world more unstable. By leveling Divination, you essentially return the life force back into the world, slowly healing and saving it.

Okay, that’s enough lore, let’s dive into the practical side of Divination. In essence, it is a gathering and manufacturing skill with some practical gold-making applications. While leveling Divination, you will have to travel all over Gielinor, harvesting wisps at specific places. This will give you energy and memories, which can then be deposited into energy rifts to gain Divination experience.

There’s a chance that you will obtain enriched memories, which give twice as much XP when deposited. When harvesting wisps, you should wait until your inventory is full and then “cash out” memories for XP, using the “enhanced experience” option. This will consume energy to increase the amount of XP you gain. If you run out of energy, you can either keep converting normally for reduced XP or go to the Grand Exchange to purchase more energy.

Certain items and other in-game features can boost your Divination XP gain; however, we will cover the base Divination leveling process due to length constraints. One thing you can and definitely SHOULD do is use boons. They are items that give you a permanent 10% XP boost to Divination when converting a certain type of energy. It can be created with a certain amount of corresponding energy or the type of energy below it. For example, to create the Boon of flickering energy, you would need 100 Pale (the first type of energy you’re going to harvest, with Flickering being the second) or Flickering energy. Once created and used, it provides you with a an XP buff when harvesting Flickering energy.

We have covered the basics of Divination, it’s now time to dive into the leveling process itself.

You will start by harvesting Pale wisps. They can be found to the south of Draynor Village. They are small blue globes of light, fluttering around. Take note that they don’t have an enriched version. You should farm them until you reach level 10 as described above and then make a Boon of flickering energy with the remaining Pale energy you may have.

The next area you should get to is to the east of the Falador lodestone. Look for Flickering wisps, harvest them, and convert memories to XP, just as before. Once you reach Divination level 20, convert 300 Flickering energy into a Boon of bright energy and move to the next zone.

The next farming ground is to the east of Varrock or west of the Dig Site. The best way to get there is by using a Dig Site Pendant; however, if you don’t have one, you can just walk from Varrock. Farm the hell out of Bright wisps until you reach level 30 and then make a Boon of glowing energy with 500 Bright energy.

Next place you should head to is just south of the Seers Village lodestone, where you should look for Glowing wisps. Once you reach level 40, make a Boon of Sparkling energy with 600 Glowing energy.

The zone you’re going to farm to reach level 50 can be found outside the Slayer caves. The easiest way to get there is by using a Slayer ring. If you don’t have it, you could also use a Fairy ring with the a j r combination. If you don’t have any means to reach that place easily, go to Fremennik lodestone and head south-east. Farm Sparkling wisps to level 50, then Make a Boon of gleaming energy with 800 of your remaining Sparkling energy.

The best spot to farm to 60 can be found near the Nature altar, so it’s quite convenient if you have a Wicked hood. If you don’t, head to the east of Varrock, the farming grounds can be found to the east of construction site. You should farm Gleaming wisps and then make a Boon of Vibrant energy once you reach level 60 with 1000 Gleaming energy.

The next wisps to farm are Vibrant wisps. They can be found to the north of Mobilising armies. This is the last area where you can stay for 10 levels of Divination XP, the remaining areas will provide you with five levels each. Farm as usual, then make the next Boon, which should cost you 1,200 Vibrant energy.

The levels 70 to 75 will be gained farming Lustrous wisps to the east of the Slayer tower. When you’re done, make the next Boon with 1375 Lustrous energy and head to the next area, unless you have no way to get to Elder’s Hall. Then, you should keep farming Lustrous wisps until you reach 80.

To reach the Elder wisp farming zone, you need to use Book of Char to get to the Elder Hall, use Sixth-Age circuit, or go to the Eagles’ Peak. From there, you should reach the World Gate and teleport to Elder Hall. Look for Elder wisps there and harvest them to skill Divination up to 80. Once you do, make a Boon of brilliant energy with 1375 Lustrous energy.

The following 5 levels (up to 85) will be spent grinding Brilliant wisps. You can reach this skilling zone by getting to the Mage Training Arena and heading east. Fairy ring with the code b i p or the direct teleport, using one of the relevant skill portals in the Max Guild could be useful in reaching this place. Once 85, it’s time to make a Boon again. This time, it’s the Boon of radiant energy, which will cost you 1,750 Brilliant energy to make.

Leveling to 90 is done rescuing Radiant wisps, which can be found in the Dragontooth Island. You can get there easily from Port Phasmatys. If you plan to travel there with the Ghost captain, bring an Amulet of ghostspeak or a Cramulet. You won’t need it if you’ve completed all of the Morytania’s hard tasks. The easiest way to reach Port Phasmatys is by using Ectophial. Once you’re 90, make the next Boon, the Boon of Luminous energy for 2,000 Radiant energy if you can reach Sophanem easily. If you can’t, you’re better off staying on Radiant wisps until 95.

If you can reach Sophanem without too many problems, head to the south and look for Luminous wisps. Once 95, make a Boon of Incandescent energy with 2,250 Luminous energy.

The last leg of the farming journey is farming Incandescent wisps. It can be found to the South of the Poison Waste area. The easiest way to teleport to the area is by using a Fairy ring with the code b k p.

Wow, this was a very long article. We hope it was worthwhile read. While Divination is not the easiest, nor the fastest skill to level, we believe it to be worth the effort. With that said, good luck on your Gielinor adventures, friend.
