The world of RuneScape is dwelling with bots. This is not a question, as there was no question mark at the end of the sentence. This is a clear or unquestionable statement. Every single day, thousands of characters, that being controlled by a computer, are going into the field to kill giants, monsters, fishing, and do many other things that casual players often find too repetitive and boring to bother with. While botting has its upsides and downsides for the whole Runescape community, any self-respecting player should resist any temptations to use these scammy programs.
People who defend botters often say that it’s a victim-less crime, or a crime that needs to be done for the sake of the community and that without those bots, there would be way less items to buy in the Grand Exchange and they would cost way… way more. Well, this might sound harsh, but this is certainly true; however, it is not as bad as it seems. While genuine hard-working players would have to pay more for items that they need, they could also sell anything they themselves put effort in farming for a much more higher price due to less supply and more demand. Simple as that. Economics are not so hard to understand, when you’re reading awesome blogs like this one. In the end, it would equal out or even come in favor of the fair players.
If that isn’t enough for you, remember that bots are also used to level-up the skills. It is the ultimate let down from the players perspective considering the level of this awesome game, when a player who genuinely loves RuneScape, spending endless hours playing the game, witnesses another character with the same or even better gear clicking stuff like a machine. It is easy to recognize a bot. Some might say – kill it before it lays eggs.
After noticing his or her first bot, the player starts seeing them everywhere. I know, it sounds like to you accidentally appear in “6th Sense” movie. As a result, his enjoyment of the game reaches the new lows. Then you suddenly think to yourself – why play when I can just run a bot and do something else? At first, the player resists the temptation to bot. He tries to keep playing fair, tries to stay motivated even uses the disappointment as fuel for even greater effort. After a while; however, the harsh reality kicks in, he gives up and another botter comes to this earth. Here you go ladies and gentlemen – the cycle continues.
Botting is a great problem and should be dealt with ASAP. It is used for monetary gains, it is used to automatize repetitive tasks, it is used to get ahead without putting in the work first. Everything you can do by yourself. If you’re stuck or tired about that, you may buy some OSRS Gold and make it easier to finish. Most importantly, botting just destroys any fun this game could offer you. Gaming is all about entering a world different from our own and working your ass off to achieve something in it. This shitty method spits in the face of that and should be eradicated. Don’t be like that, dear Runescapers.
