Slaying is a RuneScape skill, available to members. It is closely linked to Combat. It allows players to kill monsters that are normally immune to damage and can’t be killed. Slaying works by assigning players tasks from one of eight Slayer Masters and giving experience for successful completion of these tasks. When you train you Slayer skill, you gain Combat experience as well as Slayer experience. When you fight normal monsters, you only have to tag them to gain experience; however, boss fights are different, because you have to be the one who dealt the most damage to gain any XP.
By completing Slayer assignments, you get reward points which can be cashed out, depending on the Slayer Master used and such factors as the number of Slayer tasks you completed in a row. One important thing– you have to complete the Smoking Kills quest to receive full points, as their gain is halved before that.
The Smoking Kills quest is the sixth in the Desert quest series. It is started after talking to Sumona in Pollnivneach. To take part, you will need 90 in Combat, 35 in Slayer, and 25 in Crafting skills. While attempting it, you should make sure to have Combat equipment and food, several Waterskins, A Ring of Slaying to teleport to Pollnivneach, some Super Energy Potions, a Rope, and a house in Pollnivneach, though a few coins for Magic Carpet rides would do in a pinch.
The Ring of Slaying can be obtained for Slayer reward points; however, before that, you will need to have an Enchanted Gem at least, because it will allow you to contact Slayer masters to ask for help and do many other useful stuff. It’s not expensive at all, only costing one coin to purchase.
Okay, once you’re ready to go Slaying, you should figure out which Slaying Master is the best for you. You should know that the difficulty and XP gains of your Slayer assignments will depend on the Master you receive the assignment from. The higher the level, the more XP. To figure out which Master is best for you, you should look at your Combat and Slayer levels. If your combat is 1, go to Turael in Taverley. If you have 20 Combat, Mazchna/Achtryn in Canifis is your best bet. To receive your assignments from Vannaka (Edgeville Dungeon), you will need 40 Combat, while Chaeldar(Zanaris) becomes available at 75. Once you have 35 Slayer and 90 Combat, you should go to Sumona in Pollnivneach, moving to Duradel in Shilo Village when you have 100 Combat and 50 Slayer. 110 Combat and 75 Slayer is the best moment to move to Kuradal in Ancient Cavern. The final Slayer Master is Morvran in Prifddinas. He will NOT talk to you unless you have 120 Combat and 85 Slayer. You will also have to complete the Plague’s End quest.
In basic terms, Slayer is leveled by completing assignments from Masters. You know how to get tasks, you know how to interact with the Slayer Master of your choice from far away, you now to tag monsters to receive XP, and you know that there are reward points to be spent. We believe that is all we should tell you, because anything more would just run your Slayer fun. We wish you good luck, Slayer.
